Tile: You’re only limited by your imagination!

Think again if you believe tile flooring can only be used in kitchens and baths. It's versatile; it works with the decor in living rooms, dining spaces, enclosed sun porches, hallways, and even bedrooms. In addition, tile is durable, waterproof, easy to clean, adds value to a property, and can last up to 50 years--so have some fun!

First, understand the difference

When you come into our showroom, you'll see countless colors, designs, shapes, and sizes. They're all beautiful, but we explain that each type has different characteristics that make them behave differently in various installations. For instance, you can't use wall tiles on a floor because they are thinner, more slippery, and can't withstand the weight of people walking on it. You can, however, use a floor tile on the wall. You’ll also want to look at water absorption and grip.

The impact of a tile shower

A  big trend today is to create the atmosphere of a wellness center in your bath. We explain that it's easy just by using ceramic and glass tile on the walls with marble tiles on the floors to give the space the feeling of an upscale spa.

Also trending are the mosaic tiles, both on the walls and the bathroom floor. Mosaics are tiny, 2-inch, highly decorative, often glass-coated pieces. Famous for their style, they also serve a great function: The many grout lines create a texture that helps to increase grip, especially important if you have young kids or senior residents in your home.

Backsplashes and focal points

Create a tile backsplash design that coordinates with the counter and floor. Backsplashes today run floor-to-ceiling or wrap-around windows, floors, and shelves and can become a focal point. You can also design a tile backsplash strip for the bathroom between the vanity and medicine cabinet.
